Firmware Downgrade Asus Lollipop to Kitkat (WW Version)

Versi WW_5.3.3.3 (Downgrad Version)

Deskripsi ASUS ZenFone 5(A500CG/A501CG) downgrade SOP (Downgrade from L to KK), V2.21.40.44 Only for WW SKU*
Notice:
1. Please must to download the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.3.3.3-user.zip/UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.2.2.2-user.zip to perform downgrade procedure.
2. Only apply to same SKU update, Example: WW->WW, CN->CN, TW->TW.
3. Software update cannot transfer the software SKU and downgrade the software version.
4. Downgrade image will only revert back to latest KK version
5. After OTA downgrade, device will perform factory reset automatically.then reboot automatically to complete upgrade process
6. System upgrade may cause part of data missing, please buckup your important data before system upgrade

Downgrade Steps (From L to KK)
1. Download the downgrade tool: UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.3.3.3-user.zip/UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.2.2.2-user.zip
2. Using MTP connecting ZenFone5 with PC. (Enable MTP: Setting–>Storage–>press the USB icon on right corner–> Enable MTP)
3. Copy file UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.3.3.3-user.zip to t he ZenFone5 internal storage.
4. Remove the USB cable, the device will pops up the system upgrade information.
5. After finished, device will auto reboot and perform factory reset.
6. Then copy file UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-5.2.2.2-user to the ZenFone5 internal storage again.
7. After downgraded, device will auto reboot and perform factory reset.
8. After finished, please go to Settings->About-> software information->Build number. The version should be V2.21.40.44

Firmware WW 2.22.40.53/2.22.40.54 , Fixed of incoming call issue

Note: 2.22.40.53 OTA for phone is stopped seeding to all Zenfone 5 user because of incoming call issue. Is better to download the full firmware from ASUS Website.

Changelog for 2.22.40.53:
1. Brightness reduced (Useful for night conditions and save power)
2. Auto-start Manager added
3. Battery Draining Detection added
4. Some apps added: ZenCircle, CleanMaster, TripAdvisor, 50+ Games and ASUS PhotoCollage (If you feel this is bloat, just disable through Settings)

Issue that fixed/ Improvement
1. Call log can saved back through press power button end call
2. Call waiting (Long Dut sound for different Carrier eg. Maxis[Malaysia carrier]) has been fixed and with sounds now
3. Battery drain seems reduced, improved a bit battery life

Issue:
1. System performance (animation) appear slow a bit than previous firmware 2.21.40.44
2. AudioWizard issue, still same as previous firmware 2.21.40.44 (Sound cracking when adjust Music volume)
3. Music sound slow response again when connected headphones at first while listening music
4. In standby mode and after 15 minutes then unlock the phone, the battery drains by double (Drain 2% battery at time)
5. Wi-Fi getting harder to automatically connect.

Solution for some user having some minor issue
1. Force stop/Clear data the apps that conflict the issues

How to Downgrade Asus Zenfone Lollipop Beta Test To Kitkat

 In order to downgrade From Android Lollipop Beta Test to Kitkat you need to download some Files

Download Files

Blob Files
TW system.img
WW system.img

Instruction on How to Downgrade Asus Zenfone from Lillopop Beta test to Kitkat

1. Extract the Blob Files.zip and open the Folder WW and open a CMD windows inside the folder

2. Not Reboot you Device on DroidBoot or Bootloader and Follow the Command bellow

fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader

3.  Your device is reboot again on bootloader This time we will Flash a system.img in order to downgrade  Download the TW system.img or WW system.img from my previous post you find the system.img inside the folder you will see that I am sure Do NOT reboot your Device just follow my tutorial lets go on no. 4 step

4. Find the system.img and open a CMD Windows where the files found and follow the ADB Command bellow

fastboot flash system system.img

5. Reboot your phone and Congrats your done on downgrading from Android Lollipop to Kitkat

Addition if needed

 This tutorial is after you Complete to flash the system.img and your booted for flashing the system.img

Procedure in flashing official Firmware after flashing system.img

1. we expect you already download the firmware now reboot to recovery
2. In Recovery menu Choose apply update from ADB
3. Now open CMD windows Where The downloaded Firmware is leaves example is UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-2.21.40.44-user.zip now follow the ADB command below

adb sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-2.21.40.44-user.zip

And wait until you will see install complete , Asus Zenfone now your in the Official Asus Zenfone

 The Idea of this is if you want to downgrade is use a system.img to flash in the system and after you flash the system.img and you want to flash the official firmware you just go to recovery menu and use adb sideload and done

How to flash Beta Test Lollipop ROM Firmware of Asus Zenfone

This tutorial will show you how to install the Lollipop version for Asus Zenfone and how to Change SKU for Your Asus Zenfone

Download all Files Needed

UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.21.40.44-user.zip
PinaslangZenfonePHfile.zip [ build prop TW version kitkat and Blob files TW version for changing SKU from WW to TW]
UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.39-user.zip
UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.48-user.zip
UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-3.23.40.30-user.zip

Changing SKU from TW to WW
1 Download PinaslangZenfonePHfile.zip copy all build*.prop in your system /system/* and set the permission to rw-r-r and reboot your Asus Zenfone now follow this step so you can change your SKU of Asus Zenfone from WW to TW
2. Reboot to Boot loader and open step 2 folder of  PinaslangZenfonePHfile.zip
3. flash the blob file in Boot loader follow the command bellow

in step 3 command via Droidboot or Bootloader

fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dnx dnx_fwr_ctp_a500cg.bin
fastboot flash ifwi ifwi_ctp_a500cg.bin

Now in Boot loader or Droid boot choose the RECOVERY you will see android logo with red exclamation mark on center of you device now press and hold only the volume down while holding volume down immediately press the volume up so we can enter on recovery menu of Asus Zenfone kitkat version

The step above will lock your bootloader and flash all original file of  TW to use in our next step to flash TW SKU 2.21.40.44 Kitkat we need to change to Kitkat in order to test the Beta Test Lollipop Version

4. Download the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.21.40.44-user.zip and place we can use CMD windows
5. Now you are in Recovery menu Choose Apply Update from ADB this will allow us to flash a firmware or update by using of adb sideload command follow my command so no one lost in this tutorial open a cmd windows in you computer where the downloaded UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.21.40.44-user.zip is find

First we will flash UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.21.40.44-user.zip to update the system on TW SKU this will take time so wait until you will see on your device is complete

adb sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.21.40.44-user.zip

Second Do not Reboot your Phone, Do not remove the usb connection okay and keep on reading here lets go to flash the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.39-user.zip This step will update and preparing to flash the Asus Zenfone Lollipop UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-3.23.40.30-user.zip Beta Test now i expect that your still on recovery now choose again the apply update from ADB we will flash the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.39-user.zip

follow the command below
wait until you will see Install from ADB complate

adb sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.39-user.zip

Third Do not Reboot your Phone, Do not remove the USB connection okay, i Hope your still on recovery now choose again the apply update from ADB  now we need to flash the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.48-user.zip this is needed in order to update in lollipop Asus Zenfone

follow the command below
wait until you will see Install from ADB complate

adb sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-2.22.40.48-user.zip

Fourth and Final Step, Do not Reboot your Phone, Do not remove the usb connection okay, i Hope your still on recovery now choose again the apply update from ADB  now we need to flash the UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-3.23.40.30-user.zip this is the firmware and the patch for Android Lollipop that come from Beta test of Asus Zenfone.

follow the command below
wait until you will see Install from ADB complate

adb sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-3.23.40.30-user.zip

This is the only time you will reboot your Phone choose reboot system now and congrats your in Android Lollipop for Asus Zenfone 5 ,6

Steps of Update 

  1. Check software version of your device**
  2. Download device software and Update SOP From ManualItem
  3. Only apply to same SKU update, Example: WW->WW, CN->CN, TW->TW.
  4. Software update cannot transfer the software SKU and downgrade the software version.
  5. Wrong SKU may cause update failure, please update the  same SKU version only.
